Getting Started

I read the book and got so excited to start the diet immediately that I did not do enough prep work going into the first three days. Don't pull a "me" and start the diet prematurely until you've followed some of these helpful starter tips below:

1) Please, please, please... Read the entire book before beginning the diet. It's tempting just to start once you start reading about the preparations for Day One, but please just read everything. You'll have a much better understanding of why you're doing what you're doing.

2) My biggest recommendation is to go onto http://lyngenet.com/and download her grocery-shopping list. TRUST ME. If you try to go by the book without downloading this shopping list you WILL forget something and kick yourself later.

3) The day before make your own Flax Granola. The seeds need to soak overnight in the fridge so trust me when I say, please do this a few days ahead of time. Otherwise, you’ll wake up Day One and starve while you watch your granola roast in the oven for an hour. (Not fun.)

4) This is a major downside of The Plan but needs to be brought to your attention: Quite frankly, you will be cooking your meals every single day with fresh produce. Fresh produce is expensive. If you don’t think your going to be able to do this or if you don’t have the right resources to do this- the diet will be very difficult for you to follow. The book is very specific and they do not recommend substitutions. If you have a busy schedule your best bet is to try to prepare things in advance as grouped by the book. Days 1-3 cook everything and take out when needed.. ect.
